Objectives
Focus on issues facing Human Rights Commissions across Canada and emphasise future trends
Provide an affordable forum for all human rights staff to attend and discuss challenges and issues facing them across the country
Since 2005 was Saskatchewan‘s Centennial, it was a great opportunity to focus on some of the unique aspects of this beautiful province
Strategies
Delegates from all Human Rights Commissions across Canada were invited
The provincial government provided major funding which allowed the committee to bring in Dr. Stephen Lewis as a speaker
The University of Saskatchewan campus was listed as an affordable housing alternative to encourage greater attendance
Many provinces were asked to provide a speaker for various breakout sessions to allow for greater participation
The committee actively sought out student sponsorships so that youth were able to attend and discuss equal rights laws both current and proposedvThe CASHRA annual general meeting was being held in conjunction with the conference to enable greater participation
